$207,500 - Large 4 bedroom, 2 bath, historical character home in a great location
A home this large, in this area, at this price, is an opportunity not to be missed!
This spacious home is in good but dated condition, and priced to sell!
With 4 bedrooms, a bonus room and 2 bathrooms the home measures 2500 sq ft, and is a great price for this convenient location in Craig.
Built in the 1940s, this is a historical character home with a fascinating past. The home is in good condition, and comfortable to live in as-is, but would really blossom with a little love and creativity. This home has the potential to be stunning, you will reap the rewards for any work you put in. It does not currently show well from the outside, but call for an appointment so you can see the potential from the inside.
Still with many of the original 1940s features for style, the home is comfortable and livable with lots of modern, quality updates & is energy efficient: new doors, windows, insulation, wiring & plumbing. The home was weatherised 3 years ago and is warm and draft free. Lots of quality here!
Come for a tour of this fascinating home with me!
The Entry Room...
This home has a lovely entry room with original and classic finishes. Once the room that housed the piano, the entry room is a practical feature for Alaskan and town living. There is a coat closet and lots of space for everything else!
Notice the real hardwood floors, the original wooden door jams and original hinges.
To the left is the bonus room/ bathroom / 4th bedroom. Straight ahead is the kitchen. To the right is the living room.
The downstairs has a nice flow and is large enough for peace, privacy and quiet areas.
The Bonus Room, Laundry, Bathroom & 4th Bedroom
As you stand in the entry room with the front door to your back, to the left is another large room that could be used for anything - a study, a playroom, storage, a music, exercise or craft room... This home has so much space you can truly expand and have space for all your interests!
Above Left: The Bonus room with creative painting. The closed door on the left houses the stackable washer and dryer, the door on the right contains the downstairs bathroom. Above Middle: Looking back toward the entry room and he living room from the bonus room. This is an excellent room for practical things like laundry and storage, but could have many fun uses too. Above Right: the bathroom. Below: the 4th bedroom. This room is large and quiet. It has two windows, one still with the original bars on the window! (Left pic below, not seen due to sun)
The Living Room
With warm wood tones throughout and big windows this living room is really pleasant. The real hard wood floors are just stunning and when polished really look impressive! The D-log walls give the home that Alaskan cabin feel, but with more elegance and beauty.
Don't you just love the look and feel of the aged log walls? Beautiful! There are lots of nice touches to this room, notice the exposed brick and the original trim.
The kitchen opens to the side of the living room, so you have an open floor plan but with some nice dimension.
The kitchen is tidy with simple wooden cabinets and a beautiful wooden booth at the end. One of the kitchen windows has the original bars left on as a feature. The booth makes for a really fun homework station!
The Master Bedroom
The Master Bedroom is in reasonable condition but would really brighten up with a coat of paint and a few finishing touches. Water views from the bedroom window!
Notice the 1940s style door that enters from the hallway and the beautiful wooden bathroom door.
The Bathroom (upper level)
The upstairs bathroom is in really good condition with cute decor and gorgeous flooring. It has a shower tub and separate vanity.
This is my favorite bedroom, with lots of stunning original wood and a large window. From here you can see over the rooftops of Craig, with a glimpse of the ocean beyond. Bedroom 2 has three entrance ways - one to the bathroom, one to the hallway (left of crib in photo below, not shown) and another to the right of the crib that enters Bedroom 3.
Bright and cheerful, this room has lots of potential. Currently the only entrance is through Bedroom 2, but the doorway could be moved to open to the hallway (see red wall pic below - move door to right). With a little floor plan replanning, this whole upstairs area could become a lot more practical and usable. There is storage area behind the white door in the green wall photo below.
Stairs & the 1940s style hallway...
The stairway is curved, appears very solid, but could do with a little polish. There is another nice exposed brick feature here. The hallway outside the upstairs bedrooms has a sloping side wall, useful for storage, but these could be done up for display. This area is currently quite useable, but with a little replanning could become much more practical and quite a charming feature.
Outside the home
The lot measures 130' x 50', a total of 6,500 sq ft, so this property is a good size. It is hard to see all the potential right now as the property is used for storage but a fence around the perimeter would give you a large yard, lots of parking and privacy. Currently the exterior of the property does not show well, but with a little imagination and a little work, this property is a little gem waiting to be discovered. There is so much potential here, don't discount it, call today for a showing so you can see for yourself! Lot 2 Block 18. Outside pics coming soon.
This large home appears solid and has some truly beautiful features. The floor plan is a little dated but this is made up for by the size, splendor & the very affordable price of the house. The house is quite comfortable to live in as is, but with a little work could truly be transfomed either into a stylish 1940s character home or a really great, practical, large family home. Big homes in this area are hard to come by, so don't miss out on seeing this one!
Only available until September! Then the sellers will take it off the market and do it up themselves. The price will go up accordingly, so this is your chance to either get a good, inexpensive house or to have fun and do it up your style...
An older photo of the house. With polished floor boards and those stunning wood walls, this house can really shine!
